Ask yourself one thing. Do you stop to look at the clouds of the sky? Do you stop to notice the flower growing right at the side of the path for which tilts in the wind… Do you examine the sparkle for which is seen in someone’s eye, or how the sword in your hand comes to life, as the light from the sun shines down upon it.
Do you gaze to the stars at night? Do you watch how the moons seem to cast a eary glow over the thassa. Do you watch the images of the clouds, and the shapes for which they form? Do you sniff the air to catch the sweet smell of the sa-tarna left out in the kitchen, or the smell of the perfume in the air as a slave walks by.
Ask yourself these questions. For many a whole new world lives out there.
A wise man once told me something as I stared into the waters of a natural spring. He was a old man, with many scars of battle upon his face. He told me to look into the waters and asked me what I saw….. That day He opened my eyes to what truly was there to see… He whispered into my ears “Look out of the box”.
As Members of a community, at times we box ourselves in, only seeing what lays straight before us, or what is evidently clear. We focus on what is before us, not including what is to either side, or what lays behind. To me, I found a whole new world, a new life…. I found a whole new world for which I never saw before, simply by admiring the breeze that I felt brush over me, as I stood to the sterncastle of my ship. I took in the smell of the kajira that danced before me, and favored the taste of the sweet larma for which danced to my lips.
My eyes opened to a brand new world….
simply by staring up in the sky….
so ask yourself, have you stared up at the sky to see what is up there lately?
This isn’t just about using your imagination but also when we look at things within this lifestyle, sometimes we try to shove things in boxes. We try very hard to define to only understand and some things are just not definable by simple definition. One of the biggest things is when we come to looking at relationships. Relationships are a complex thing. We simply cannot define them by concepts of mono and poly. At times there are multiple dynamics for which exist even in one single relationship. Trying to put it in a box to define it by simple words at times is like trying to smoother a beautiful rose for which is trying to blossom.
Take time to understand that we all are like snowflakes and each and every one is different. this includes the interactions and relationships you will build. Look at the world through multiple shaded glasses and see things from different perspectives. Open your eyes to new ideas and new adventures. Take time to listen to people as they share their experiences, their joys, and their journeys which they have taken. You will then be able to see the world from a whole new light.
